Samsung has launched the variety of Smartphones in the Indian market and has gifted new technologies to the Smartphone lovers. During the festive season, the company has launched the latest and most affordable Smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Star Pro. The price of this Smartphone is around Rs. 6,500. The other product under Galaxy series is Galaxy S Duos, which costs up to Rs. 10,000 and is a competitor of Star Pro. If you are confused about buying them this might help you to end up with your decision.Let’s see the difference between the two Smartphones:

Display:

You don’t have to squint when reading messages or mails on your phone as the devices have 4 inches of crystal clear displays. The display is big enough to accommodate long mails, big web pages, detailed pictures and even videos. Nobody loves to miss the details in the images and videos.

Starting with the display of Galaxy Star Pro, it has 4 inches of WVGA display with the resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and shows 16 M colors. Even if the Android version is one step behind as compared to Star Pro, the ICS is well equipped with features that give users most memorable experience of surfing, latest graphics and properly organized layouts. This helps you to manage and perform the individual task with great efficiency.

Similarly, Galaxy S duos come in 4 inches of TFT capacitive display along with similar resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. In case of display, both the phones are similar and hardly any difference is observed.

The dimensions of the S Duos are 63.1 x 121.5 x 10.5 mm and that of Star Pro are 121.2 x 62.7 x 10.6 mm. Both the devices are light in weight with 120 g in S Duos and 121 g in Start Pro.

Operating System:

The OS of S Duos is ICS v4.0 which is now the older version of Android. The device runs on Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon 1GHz Cortex A5 processor which offers the users to manage advanced functions with appreciable speed. You can effortlessly swap between the apps when you multitask without any hassles. No lag time is observed with this phone. The RAM of the phone is 768 MB greater than that of Star Pro.

The Galaxy Star Pro comes with latest Android version i.e. v4.1 Jelly Bean and that is not observed in S Duos. The 1GHz Core A-5 processor with standard 512 MB of RAM that helps the device to run the operations smoothly with ease.

Camera:

With 5 mega pixels of amazing camera, S Duos captures superior quality images even in low lights as it has LED flash. The performance of the camera observed is pretty quick and video recording is also clear. The secondary camera is also offered with 0.3 mega pixels which is hardly accessed. The other camera features are digital 2x zoom, geo tagging, auto-focus, Panorama, Multi shot and several photo effects.

The Star Pro has 2 MP of camera which less that S Duos but still is manageable. You can record videos efficiently and store it. It has no flash but sports digital zoom.

Multimedia:

Galaxy S Duos supports playing music in different formats like MP3, WAV, MIDI and eAAC+. However, the video can be played in MP4, H.263, H.263 and WMV. For more entertainment FM radio is also provided in the device.

Along with FM radio, Start Pro has a music player and it is played in MP3, M4A, 3GA, AAc, OGG, OGA, WAV, AWB, AMR, FLAC, IMY and MIDI formats. You can enjoy videos in MP4, 3GP, M4V, 3G2, WEBM and MKV.

Battery:

The Galaxy S Duos has Li-ion 1500 mAh battery which offers talk time of 12 hrs on 2G and about 8 hrs on 3G. It has a standby time of 570 hours on 2G and 470 hrs on 3G.Star Pro too has a standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery with talk time support for up to 15 hours and standby time of 370 hours.

Internet and Connectivity:

You can easily surf internet with a pre-installed browser on S Duos as it supports GPRS. The device supports Bluetooth, Edge, 3G measured a speed of 7.2 Mbps HSDPA; 5.76 HSUPA, USB (Micro USB, v2), Wi-Fi with 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi HotSpot and A-GPS. It has an audio jack of standard 3.5 mm.

In case of Star Pro, internet connectivity is supported with GPRS, Edge, Wi-Fi and USB. Also, Bluetooth is supported with v3.0 with A2DP, AVRCP, OPP and PBA and audio jack is 3.5 mm.

Memory and storage:

Both the phones have internal memory of 4 GB and expandable memory up to 32 GB which is enough to store apps, games, documents and other stuff. Both the devices have slot for a micro SD card.

Pre-installed apps:

The S Duos comes with the pre-installed apps like Chat ON, SNS integration, Samsung Apps, Google search and play store. These are the important apps and come inbuilt.Star Pro comes with built in apps such as Chat ON, Samsung Apps, mFluent IM and Active Sync.In both the phones, you can download more apps and games from play store and have fun.

Dual SIM:

Galaxy S Duos as well as Star Pro supports dual SIM functionality. This is an interesting feature offered by Samsung so that you should not miss a call ever. The dual SIM service allows you to connect to the other call even if you are talking on SIM one.

Verdict:

As we have seen the features and functionalities of the both the phones and it is observed that Galaxy S Duos is better than Star Pro in case of characteristics. But when you look at the price of Star Pro, it is very cheap when it comes to Smartphone. This is the most affordable Smartphone by Samsung with latest Android version.
