Indian budget smartphone market is dominated by the Chinese mobile makers, not only because they offer ultra-affordable new models, but also can manage to offer much more than what users can expect out of these low cost devices. There are many Chinese mobile makers that are currently fighting in the Indian market, but among these few have gained a firm grip over the market despite arriving on our shores quite recently. Among the top budget phone makers that are operating in India, the name that is probably the most popular right after Xiaomi, is LeEco.
The Chinese entertainment multinational company, LeEco dropped a small bombshell on the Indian mobile market with its debut model, LeEco Le 1S. The LeEco Le 1S has been a fantastic value for money smartphone which became immensely popular and sold in massive numbers, making the unheard company in India an overnight success. Considering the cutthroat competition in the Indian market, the company decided that the Le 1S is not enough to sustain the buzz for a long time and the company needs to offer something even more be spiced. Thus, the new LeEco Le 1S Eco has come into being which can be called a new version of the Le 1S.
Now, apart from the very confusing and tongue twisting name, the LeEco Le 1S Eco is a very impressive smartphone model in the current market. The smartphone is essentially identical to that of the original LeEco Le 1S, but offers the added benefits of more content services.
The smartphone is a ‘Made for India’ as well as ‘Made in India’ smartphone from the company and will support 10 Indian regional languages including – Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
However, this is not all, the real deal that the newly launched Le 1S Eco offers lies somewhere else. LeEco had previously announced that it will join hands with Eros Now and Yupp TV, which will bring on demand video services on the Le 1S and the Le Max models from 24th of May 2016, as the company announced. However, while Le 1S as well as the Le Max users have to wait for the software update in order to enjoy these services, the new Le 1S Eco offers these services right out-of-the-box.
The Yupp TV will offer the users the access to the YuppTV catalogue of the live TV channels, while the Eros Now will let the users to enjoy Bollywood content as well as regional films on the go on the new Le 1S Eco. The Le Vidi application (Eros Now) will also let the users to choose from a huge collection of 2,000 movies that also includes latest blockbusters. On the other hand, the Live app (Yupp TV) will let users to watch up to 9 live streams simultaneously, if one has the bandwidth for such a luxurious entertainment, while there will be a menu of more than 100 channels to choose from.
Moreover, LeEco has also tied-up with Hungama to offer its users the largest music collection till now, as per the company’s claims. There will be the vast collection of 3.5 million songs across as many as 25 languages. The users can make their own personalized playlist which will show their preferred songs on top as recommendations, while offline music can be enjoyed as well. On top of all these, there will be also a new service called the Le Music which will offer access to over 50 plus live concerts across various genres. To add to all these added services, LeEco is also offering free cloud storage service Le Drive on its latest offering through which a superb 5TB of free cloud storage can be accessed. This is also expected to be up and running in the third quarter of this year. With the purchase of the Le 1S Eco, LeEco is also offering free 1-year subscription of LeEco Membership that is worth Rs. 4,900.

When it comes to design, the Le 1S Eco is exactly identical to the Le 1S with no visible difference. There’s the same all metal body along with plastic top and bottom ends that comes with brushed metallic finish. The same premium built and looks come on the new variant too along with rear Le Touch mirror surfaced fingerprint scanner as well.
The 5.5-inch LeEco Le 1S Eco sports a full HD LCD display screen with 1080×1920 pixel of resolution and 403 ppi of pixel density.
The smartphone features a 13 MP primary rear shooter with LED flash, and a 5 MP secondary front facing camera.

The LeEco Le 1S Eco now offered with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS topped with LeEco’s EUI. The device packs in a octa-core processor 1.85 GHz, MediaTek 64 bit Helio X10 supported by 3 GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 32 GB of inbuilt memory. It is matted to a 3000 mAh battery with SuperCharge feature and uses the USB Type-C port.
In terms of Connectivity it comes with 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac + Direct functionality, 3.5mm audio jack and supports Infrared connectivity.
Price & Availability
The new Le 1S Eco is tagged at Rs. 10,899, while LeEco has announced that the device will be offered with a special introductory price of Rs. 9,999 during its first flash sale that will begin on Flipkart at 2pm on 12th May. The company will offer 100,000 units for the first flash sale.
In short, the LeEco Le 1S Eco is the latest version of the same and highly loaded LeEco Le 1S, and it adds quite a few add-ons to become a super entertainment hub for the users. With its sub-10k introductory price, the new LeEco Le 1S Eco couldn’t get any better.
